About
Attorney Steven Ballin earned a B.A. in Political Science and Environmental Studies from the State University of New York at Binghamton in 1978. Following college, he attended Boston University School of Law where he earned his J.D. in 1981. After becoming admitted to the bar in 1981, he started his own firm, later renamed Ballin & Associates. He has since directed his energy and expertise to the representation of individuals. Within a month of opening his first office he was stacking up successful verdicts in the criminal courts as a criminal defense lawyer and successfully representing personal injury victims.
Within a few years, Attorney Ballin turned his attention to the representation of police officers injured in the line of duty, who had been physically and financially injured by careless drivers, subjects who resisted arrest and property owners who failed to properly maintain their properties. Attorney Ballin has since resolved many complex and unusual cases for injured officers and their families, recovering millions of dollars through settlement, arbitration, mediation and jury verdicts.
Attorney Ballin has served as an arbitrator on accident cases and served for years as a Governor on the Board of Governors of the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys, where he continues to be a member and has lectured on trial skills to attorneys across Massachusetts. He has also lectured to police officers in various departments and associations across the Commonwealth about police officers’ legal rights and how to better protect themselves. He has written articles for publications of interest to police officers. Steven Ballin is a member of the Boston Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association and the American Trial Lawyers Association. In 2001 he helped found the Sharon High School Mock Trial team, which he has since coached to three regional championships. In 2003 he helped coach the team, which was in competition with 135 Massachusetts high schools, to within one point of the State Championship.
